Hanjayeon Strengthens Cooperation to Enhance Competitiveness of Paraguay's Automobile Industry
Discussion on Industrial Trade ODA Implementation Review and Parts Technology Innovation Cooperation

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] The Korea Automotive Technology Institute (KATECH) has decided to collaborate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Paraguay to strengthen the competitiveness of Paraguay's automotive industry.
On the 18th, Heo Nam-yong, President of KATECH, and Luis Alberto Castiglioni, Minister of Industry of Paraguay, met at KATECH headquarters in Cheonan, Chungnam Province, to assess the current status of eco-friendly future vehicle technology development, including electric vehicles, and discuss ways to enhance future cooperation.
KATECH and the Ministry of Industry of Paraguay reviewed the progress of the ongoing Industrial Trade Cooperation Development Support Project (Industrial Trade ODA).
The Industrial Trade ODA is a project aimed at contributing to the economic development policies and industrial development needs of economic cooperation partner countries (developing countries). KATECH, supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, is currently implementing the "Paraguay Automotive Parts Production Site Technical Guidance Project" to advance automotive parts.
Furthermore, KATECH and the Ministry of Industry of Paraguay agreed to cooperate on a new Industrial Trade ODA project to establish the "Paraguay Automotive Parts Technology Center and Electric Vehicle Pilot Distribution Project."
This project involves establishing an automotive parts TASK (Technology Advice and Solutions from Korea) center to support technological innovation and sustainable growth in Paraguay's automotive industry. It includes pilot distribution of commercial electric vehicles, training of specialized technical personnel, continuous technical guidance, and improvement of automotive industry systems, with an investment of 18 billion KRW over five years starting next year.

Heo Nam-yong, President of KATECH, stated, "We plan to steadily support the strengthening of Paraguay's automotive industry competitiveness through technological innovation and the training of specialized technical personnel." He added, "In particular, we will strengthen cooperation in commercial electric vehicles and related parts industries to foster Paraguay's electric vehicle industry while also enhancing the foundation for domestic parts companies to expand overseas."
