Halloween Day Targets 'Home Party' Crowd... Food Industry Launches Limited Edition Unique Products
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] In anticipation of the upcoming Halloween Day, the food industry is continuously unveiling unique products. This year, with the trend of enjoying Halloween Day at home with a small group of acquaintances due to COVID-19, the demand for special treats is expected to increase.
According to the food industry on the 16th, Orion introduced a Halloween concept dessert called ‘Halloween Choco Pie’ featuring Halloween-themed flavors and design. They recreated the pumpkin, a symbol of Halloween, in a choco pie. The biscuit is made with sweet pumpkin and covered with sweet pumpkin chocolate, while the marshmallow filling is replaced with corn cream. The product’s appearance combines orange and purple colors to evoke the Halloween atmosphere.
McDonald’s launched a Halloween season limited menu item called ‘1955 Smoky Double Bacon’ and is selling four types of coasters. This menu adds two strips of bacon and barbecue sauce to the existing 1955 burger. Customers who purchase the ‘1955 Burger Set’ or ‘1955 Smoky Double Bacon’ by the 27th can randomly receive one of four cork material coasters co-produced by McDonald’s and Fanta. Until the 31st, all menu purchases come in Halloween-themed packaging, including beverage cups and shopping bags featuring the ordered menu.
Coca-Cola’s beverage Fanta collaborated with the illustration brand ‘Moojiktiger’ to release limited edition KakaoTalk emoticons and merchandise. Fanta, which releases limited edition packages every Halloween season, collaborated this year with a character popular among the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z). Moojiktiger is known for the character ‘Ttung-rang-i,’ a witty interpretation of a tiger frequently appearing in Korean fairy tales.

Paris Baguette also launched Halloween-themed cakes featuring Halloween characters. These include ▲Halloween Party Cake ▲Pengsoo’s Halloween Treat ▲Chok Halloween Little Ghost ▲Halloween Ghost Choco Fudge, among others. They also introduced products filled with sweet chocolates or candies in pouches or baskets shaped like the iconic Halloween ‘Jack-o’-lantern’ pumpkin. Additionally, cookies and candies suitable as light gifts or for daycare parties were released.
