Wando-gun Achieves $1.7 Million Export Performance at World OKTA Export Consultation Meeting

[Wando＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 15th that it participated in the '25th World Korean Business Convention Linked Export Consultation' hosted by World OKTA, the largest overseas Korean economic organization, held at the Grand Walkerhill Seoul Hotel on the 13th, and signed export agreements worth a total of 1.7 million USD (about 2 billion KRW) with three countries: Laos, the Netherlands, and Japan.

The county participated in the export consultation hosted by World OKTA for the second time, following the 'World OKTA World Representatives Conference Export Consultation' held in Daejeon last May.

Five companies from Wando-gun participated, conducting 24 hybrid export consultations both online and offline with buyers from a total of 15 countries.

As a result of the consultations, Wando-gun export companies Heungil Food (seaweed) signed an export agreement worth 1 million USD with Laos, Wando-da (abalone, seaweed) signed for 500,000 USD with the Netherlands, and Haeseong International (flatfish) signed for 200,000 USD with Japan.

This achievement was made within just two participations in the export consultation despite restrictions such as being unable to directly explain products due to COVID-19.

In addition to Wando-gun, about 70 small and medium-sized enterprises from Seoul and Namyangju City participated in the consultation, conducting export consultations with approximately 130 buyers from 30 countries and 46 regions worldwide through online and offline channels.

Shin Woo-cheol, Wando-gun Governor, who visited the export consultation site along with former Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun and World OKTA Chairman Ha Yong-hwa to encourage participating companies, stated, "The excellence of Wando seafood produced in the clean sea has been proven once again through this World OKTA export consultation," and added, "We will continue to steadily carry out overseas market development activities to increase seafood exports."
