[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Heo Seok) announced on the 15th that it will crack down on illegal motorcycle violations to ensure traffic safety and resolve residents' inconveniences caused by motorcycles.
Recently, with the activation of delivery services due to COVID-19, motorcycle accidents have been continuously increasing, and complaints about nighttime motorcycle noise have also been on the rise.
Accordingly, Suncheon City plans to conduct a large-scale focused crackdown mainly in densely populated residential areas and areas with frequent complaints, in cooperation with the Suncheon Police Station and the Gwangju-Jeonnam Headquarters of the Korea Transportation Safety Authority.
The main targets of the crackdown are ▲ illegal tuning and safety standard violations such as mufflers and lighting devices, ▲ unregistered operation, ▲ failure to attach license plates, damage, or concealment, and the crackdown will be intensively carried out starting from the 25th.
Before the joint crackdown, the city will conduct promotional activities targeting citizens and seek cooperation for safe motorcycle operation and eradication of illegal acts through guidance and inspection activities targeting delivery service companies.

A Suncheon City official said, “We will do our best to eradicate illegal motorcycle activities through continuous education and joint crackdowns with related organizations,” and added, “We ask citizens to actively report motorcycles that threaten public safety, such as reckless driving, riding on sidewalks, and noise generation.”
