Gyeonggi-do Conducts 'National Safety Inspection' at 1,600 Locations
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will conduct the '2021 National Safety Inspection' across seven sectors including construction, daily life and leisure, environment and energy, transportation, and health and welfare from the 15th of this month to the 12th of next month.
The National Safety Inspection is a disaster prevention activity aimed at improving safety conditions throughout society, with joint participation from the central government, local governments, public institutions, private experts, and the public.
The inspection targets approximately 1,600 sites, including facilities rated D or below in safety, facilities over 30 years old, multi-use and fire-vulnerable facilities, cultural heritage sites, landslide-prone areas, and other high-risk facilities where human casualties are a concern in case of accidents, as well as facilities similar to those where recent accidents have occurred.
To enhance the effectiveness of safety inspections, the province plans to implement joint public-private inspections utilizing private experts and pilot the application of advanced technologies such as drones.
During the inspection period, issues that can be corrected on-site will be immediately addressed, and facilities requiring further diagnosis will be referred to specialized institutions for detailed safety evaluations.
Additionally, to promote a culture of voluntary safety inspections with residents, the province will strengthen publicity efforts such as encouraging self-inspections and reporting through the Safety Report Center, and distributing safety checklists for households and multi-use facilities.
