Yoon Seok-yeol: "Lee Jae-myung, Daejang-dong Allegations Will Eventually Be Revealed"
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Yoon Seok-yeol, former Prosecutor General and presidential candidate of the People Power Party, stated regarding the ruling party candidate Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, "The government and ruling party are rejecting the special investigation, but eventually everything will be revealed and come to light."
On the 14th, at a local press meeting held at the People Power Party Gyeonggi Province Office in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, Yoon said, "My experience in life has taught me that a huge current cannot be stopped," expressing this view.
He pointed out the slow pace of the investigation into the 'Daejang-dong scandal.' Yoon said, "Investigations generally proceed in three major stages: in the first stage, suspects related to breach of trust are investigated; in the second stage, it is determined who supported this behind the scenes; and in the third stage, the money trail is followed to find out who ultimately took and used the funds. However, in this case, the first stage should have already been completed," he criticized.
He continued, "Kim Man-bae withdrew about 8 billion won in cash, which was reported to the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), but to neglect the investigation is almost at the level of a crime," and asserted, "When I was a special prosecutor, whenever large sums of cash were withdrawn and reported to the FIU, I personally verified it."
