Gokseong-gun Conducts Public-Private Joint Campaign to Eradicate Prostitution and Sexual Violence
Government Officials, Police, and Women's Organization Members Unite to Speak Out Against Prostitution and Sexual Violence
[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Cha Jong-sun] On the 13th, Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Yoo Geun-gi) announced that it conducted a joint public-private campaign to eradicate prostitution and sexual violence at the Train Village Traditional Market together with the Gokseong Police Station and the Gokseong-gun Women's Association.
A total of about 25 people participated in the campaign, including Gokseong-gun officials, Gokseong Police officers, and members of the Women's Association.
They shouted slogans such as "Eradicate Prostitution" and "Eradicate Sexual Violence" together to raise awareness of the illegality of prostitution.
They also appealed for everyone to participate in preventing and eradicating youth prostitution. They emphasized the need to raise awareness about the recently increasing digital sex crimes and to improve recognition for victim protection.
Many residents visiting the market on the market day responded by shouting slogans together and receiving informational leaflets.
Prior to this, Gokseong-gun also conducted a campaign to eradicate prostitution and sexual violence in front of Jeonnam Science University in Ok-gwa-myeon on the 7th.
A Gokseong-gun official said, "Our area has no prostitution hotspots and no sexual violence crimes. Accordingly, the public and private sectors will continue to conduct prevention campaigns together to maintain Gokseong as a safe place for women and children."
