Gangjin-gun Takes Steps to Revitalize Tourism in Preparation for 'With Corona' Era

Promoting Local Economic Revitalization in Line with Government's Daily Recovery Policy

[Gangjin＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] On the 14th, Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it held a ‘With Corona Response Strategy Meeting’ to prepare for the gradual recovery of daily life following the increase in vaccination rates and to revive the tourism industry, which has been stagnant due to COVID-19.

Presided over by the county governor, the meeting was attended by heads of departments and divisions who conducted an in-depth analysis of the status of Gangjin tourism before and after COVID-19, and focused on discussing strategies and prospects for Gangjin tourism in the With Corona era to implement practical policies that residents can feel.

At this meeting, the county presented various promotion strategies for ‘Safe and Secure Gangjin Tourism’ where quarantine and travel coexist in the With Corona era, including customized promotional marketing for With Corona, operation of tourist attraction programs, maintenance of major tourist facilities, and initiatives to keep Gangjin clean, and plans to prepare systematically.

Meanwhile, major tourist sites such as Gaudo, Yeongnang Birthplace, and Goryeo Celadon Kiln Site recorded 81,353 visitors last month, a slight increase of 3% compared to the same month last year. This increase in tourists is attributed to the high vaccination rate and the growing preference for safe travel destinations.

Following government policy, the county expects the number of tourists visiting Gangjin to increase further once ‘With Corona’ begins, and plans to continuously discover related projects to revitalize tourism in preparation for ‘With Corona.’

County Governor Lee Seung-ok urged, “Please do your best to thoroughly prepare for attracting tourists in the With Corona era and to revitalize the local economy through various customized tourism promotions.”
