On the 14th, the Ministry of Education announced that Deputy Prime Minister Yoo visited the Yeosu Memorial House the previous day to pay tribute to the late Hong Mo and later met with the bereaved family to express deep condolences.
Deputy Prime Minister Yoo stated, "A heartbreaking accident that should never have happened occurred, and I feel a great responsibility as the Minister of Education," adding, "Regarding the parents' demand for a thorough investigation, I will convey the bereaved family's wishes to the relevant investigative agency."
Regarding the request for a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the training participation and prevention of recurrence, Deputy Prime Minister Yoo responded, "We will strive to identify the overall issues of on-site training and prepare measures to prevent recurrence by supplementing the system."
Deputy Prime Minister Yoo received a report on the same-day school investigation results from the Joint Investigation Team on the vocational high school on-site training fatal accident at the Yeosu Office of Education and discussed future investigation plans and schedules.
The investigation items include whether the school followed procedures according to the on-site training operation manual, such as the operation of the on-site training operation committee and the signing of the standard on-site training agreement, as well as whether the training companies complied with laws and regulations.
Deputy Prime Minister Yoo said, "This investigation will be conducted separately from the Coast Guard investigation and supervision by local labor offices, and it holds significant meaning in analyzing problems and preparing institutional improvement measures to ensure that such a tragic accident never happens again."
