Competition Rate for Seoul Public Kindergarten, Elementary, and Special School Teacher Recruitment Exam at 8.38 to 1
The average competition rate increased from last year (5.64 to 1)
Kindergarten surged to 37 to 1, more than doubling compared to last year
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The average competition rate for the application submission of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education's public kindergarten, elementary school, and special education teacher recruitment exam has significantly increased to 8.38 to 1 compared to last year.
On the 14th, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced the application submission results for the 2022 academic year kindergarten, elementary, and special school teacher candidate selection competitive exam. For public teachers, 304 positions were available, with 2,547 applicants, resulting in a competition rate of 8.38 to 1.
The average competition rate rose compared to the previous year (5.64 to 1). Although the number of public school positions decreased by 34.5% compared to the previous year and the number of applicants slightly decreased by 2.7% (72 people), the competition rate increased.
The competition rates by recruitment field are ▲Kindergarten 37.29 to 1 ▲Elementary 3.6 to 1 ▲Special Education (Kindergarten) 3.6 to 1 ▲Special Education (Elementary) 4.64 to 1. In particular, the kindergarten competition rate more than doubled from last year (15.02 to 1) as the number of positions (42) was halved.
For national teachers, 4 positions were available with 24 applicants, resulting in a 6 to 1 competition rate, and for private teachers, 8 positions were available with 246 applicants, recording a competition rate of 30.75 to 1.
The private schools recruiting this time include Yuseok Elementary School, Dongsan Elementary School, Seongsin Elementary School, Gyeonggi Elementary School, and special kindergartens such as Gwangseong Haneulbit School and special elementary schools like Gyonam School, totaling 6 locations. Among them, Gyonam School (70 to 1), Gyeonggi Elementary School (52 to 1), and Seongsin Elementary School (33 to 1) had the highest competition rates in that order.

The first round of the 2022 academic year public (national and private) kindergarten, elementary, and special school teacher recruitment competitive exam will be held on November 13.
