'Sharing Responsibility for Women and Child Safety' Seoul Foundation of Women and Family - Seoul Dongjak Police Station Business Agreement
Establishing a Cooperative System for Creating a Safe Environment for Citizens, Including Crime Prevention for Women and Children
Expanding Safe Infrastructure for Gender Equality Communication Spaces through Institutional Collaboration Activities
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Foundation of Women and Family and the Seoul Dongjak Police Station will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a safety cooperation system on the 14th at the Seoul Foundation of Women and Family (located in Dongjak-gu, Seoul).
The Seoul Foundation of Women and Family is a Seoul Metropolitan Government-funded institution established to realize gender equality in Seoul and to enhance the capabilities, social participation, and welfare of women in Seoul. It operates the Seoul Women’s Plaza and Space Sallim. The Seoul Dongjak Police Station has 11 organizations including the 112 comprehensive security situation room in Dongjak-gu, and operates six district police stations including Noryangjin District Police Station and one police box.
Through this MOU, the two organizations will establish a proactive crime prevention and early response system to build safety infrastructure at Seoul Women’s Plaza and Space Sallim. They will form a cooperative system to create a safe environment for users such as women and children, and strengthen joint security activities using CCTV monitoring systems.
The Seoul Foundation of Women and Family will build a close cooperative environment with the Dongjak Police Station by creating exclusive parking spaces for patrol cars within the institution, establishing waiting areas for police officers, discovering blind spots in security, and setting up a reporting system when suspicious criminals are found.
The Seoul Dongjak Police Station plans to strengthen crime prevention activities through patrols, including special patrols during nighttime hours, proactively identify and resolve factors causing crime anxiety and security blind spots, and establish a security safety net.
Additionally, joint security activities such as preventing digital sex crimes will be promoted. They will jointly inspect and monitor illegal cameras in public restrooms within facilities operated by the Seoul Foundation of Women and Family and jointly patrol crime-vulnerable areas.
Furthermore, the two organizations will conduct mutual invitation training as part of this MOU. The Seoul Dongjak Police Station will provide training on crime prevention and security to foundation staff, and the Seoul Foundation of Women and Family will conduct gender-sensitivity education and violence prevention awareness training for police officers at the Seoul Dongjak Police Station.
At the MOU signing ceremony, an award ceremony for the certification of an excellent crime prevention parking lot will also be held for the Space Sallim parking lot. The Space Sallim parking lot received certification as an excellent crime prevention parking lot through the Seoul Dongjak Police Station’s evaluation of management operations and security facilities such as CCTV and emergency bells.
Jeong Yeon-jeong, CEO of the Seoul Foundation of Women and Family, said, “Through this MOU, Seoul Women’s Plaza and Space Sallim will become safe places for women and children in Seoul,” and added, “The Seoul Foundation of Women and Family will continue to focus on forming and expanding a more thorough safety network through local resource linkage with related organizations.”
