'Daechung-dong Allegation' Key Figure Nam Wook: "I Don't Know About the 70 Billion Won Agreement Rumor, Kim Man-bae and Yoo Dong-gyu Should Reveal the Truth"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] Nam Wook, a lawyer considered one of the key figures in the Daejang-dong development preferential treatment and lobbying allegations, stated that he "does not know well" about the "70 billion won agreement rumor" and other matters. He further insisted that Kim Man-bae, the major shareholder of Hwacheon Daeyu Asset Management (Hwacheon Daeyu), and former Seongnam Urban Development Corporation Planning Director Yoo Dong-gyu should reveal the truth.
In an interview broadcast on jtbc on the evening of the 13th, Lawyer Nam said regarding the "70 billion won agreement rumor" mentioned in accountant Jung Young-hak's recorded transcript and the suspicion that Yoo, the former director, is the actual owner of Cheonhwa Dongin No. 1, "I honestly don't know well because I was not present at that place," adding, "Only Mr. Kim and former Director Yoo would know the truth, so the two of them should reveal it."
He also said, "Mr. Kim lies a lot." He claimed that the cause of the dispute among partners was also due to Mr. Kim.
Lawyer Nam explained, "Mr. Kim excluded us from the business and suggested that we share the burden of employee salaries amounting to 28 billion won. Since we had already borne large costs before, these things were unfair, and we ended up fighting over cost issues."
Lawyer Nam said he understood that the equity structure among partners was also arranged by Hwacheon Daeyu.
When asked by the host whether he had lobbied for the project himself, Lawyer Nam insisted, "As I keep saying, I was excluded from the business and only held shares," adding, "I had no reason to lobby, nor did I lobby."
Regarding Hwacheon Daeyu’s payment of 5 billion won to Assemblyman Kwak Sang-do’s son under the name of industrial accident consolation money and retirement pay, Lawyer Nam said, "It is not common sense."
On the suspicion that Mr. Kim influenced the public office election law appeal trial of Gyeonggi Governor Lee Jae-myung through former Supreme Court Justice Kwon Soon-il, he said, "I was shocked after reading the article," and added, "I think these things accumulated, causing suspicions and troubles."

When asked whether the Daejang-dong development project was preferential treatment for private businesses, Lawyer Nam said, "If I had been deeply involved in designing it, I would have argued, but even now, I do not understand the structure itself well, so it is inappropriate to say whether it was preferential treatment or not."
