Jeonju Mayor Kim Seung-su Communicates with Youth through Metaverse
Jeonbuk National University, Jeonju Kijeon College, and Yesu University Students Hold Metaverse Youth Empathy Meeting
[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Kim Seung-su, mayor of Jeonju, communicated with local university students about various policies for the development of Jeonju, ranging from youth employment policies to the revitalization of Hanok Village, in the three-dimensional virtual world of the metaverse.
On the 13th, Jeonju City held a "Metaverse Youth Empathy Meeting" using the metaverse platform 'IFLAND,' with Mayor Kim Seung-su and about 30 students from Jeonbuk National University, Jeonju Kijeon College, and Yesu University participating.
The meeting was held under the theme "Mayor! What kind of place is Jeonju?" and included policy proposals from student council presidents such as Kim Ji-gwang of Jeonbuk National University, Jeong Seung-jin of Jeonju Kijeon College, and Noh Ha-yeon of Yesu University, as well as a free Q&A session with university students.
Youth presented various opinions on youth employment policies and youth measures, as well as on △2050 carbon neutrality △commercialization of Hanok Village and solutions to waste problems △revitalization of Deokjin Park △solutions to traffic congestion at the zoo △playground and library policies.
Jeonju City plans to hold a second meeting with about 30 students from Jeonju University, Jeonju National University of Education, and Jeonju Vision University in the future.
Additionally, the city will consult with relevant department officials regarding the reflection of policy proposals that emerged from the meeting.
Mayor Kim Seung-su said, "The metaverse is a technology symbolizing the new future, so I actively utilized it to communicate with young people," adding, "We will do our best to reflect the vivid voices of local youth in city administration, expand youth job creation and welfare policies, and help Jeonju advance as a city of youth hope."
