Sejong City, Comprehensive Settlement of Overdue Non-Tax Revenue
[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Sejong City will undertake the collection of overdue payments through a ‘Comprehensive Overdue Revenue Clearance’ by next month.
On the 13th, the city announced that during the clearance period, overdue payment notices will be sent out simultaneously to encourage payment from defaulters. For habitual defaulters who avoid payment, the city plans to implement overdue measures such as ▲seizure of assets including real estate and deposits ▲public disclosure of the names of defaulters owing more than 10 million KRW ▲seizure of license plates of overdue vehicles.
However, for livelihood-related defaulters facing economic difficulties, the city will promote customized collection activities such as installment payment plans through tax consultation.
Overdue payments can be conveniently made via virtual accounts, bank ATMs, internet banking, Wetax, and the automated telephone response system (ARS) using credit cards and other methods.

The head of the city’s Revenue Management Division stated, “We will minimize the amount of overdue payments carried over to next year through customized collection activities,” and added, “We will do our best to foster a sound tax payment culture and secure autonomous revenue sources.”
