Woowa Brothers Recruiting 4th Cohort for 'Wooteco', a Free IT Training Program for Aspiring Developers
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] Woowa Brothers announced on the 13th that they will recruit about 150 trainees for the 4th class of Woowa Tech Course (Wooteco) from the 22nd of this month to the 3rd of next month.
Wooteco is a free IT education program established by Woowa Brothers in 2019 to address the shortage of developers in the IT industry and to nurture excellent developers. Noting the significant gap between the development knowledge learned at educational institutions such as universities and actual field work, more than half of the curriculum is composed of practical work-oriented content.
There is no restriction that trainees must be employed by Woowa Brothers after completing the program, and trainees can apply to companies they desire, which also gives the program a social contribution meaning of nurturing developers.
The Wooteco education program, reflecting recent development trends, has gained popularity among prospective developers as employment continues for graduates of the 1st to 3rd classes. Including the currently ongoing 3rd class, a total of 171 people have participated, and the average employment rate among 95 graduates of the 1st and 2nd classes reaches 90%.
They are employed at leading IT companies and startups, working as active developers.
An, a graduate of the 2nd class of Wooteco and currently working at Woowa Brothers, said, "Since all missions were conducted as pair programming (two people working together), I was able to develop collaboration skills essential in the field," adding, "Another great advantage of Wooteco is receiving direct feedback on mission execution from senior developers with field experience."
Choi, who completed the 1st class and is currently working at Naver Financial, also stated, "Thanks to code reviews, collaboration, and project experience at Wooteco, I was able to immediately engage in work and fulfill my role as a new developer after joining the company."
The 4th class of Wooteco is open to anyone with basic knowledge and experience in programming. After document submission, an online coding test, a pre-course, and a final coding test will be conducted. After the announcement of successful candidates on December 30, the approximately 10-month education course will begin in February next year. On the 14th at 2 p.m., an online briefing session will be held to introduce the Wooteco education program in detail, including a panel talk with participants of the 3rd class and a Q&A session for applicants.
