Don't Want to Be a Victim? Experience the Evolving 'Phishing'... Gyeongbuk Police Agency Opens Phishing Simulation Center
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency has opened a 'Phishing Simulation Experience Center' that can be easily accessed via mobile phones.
The Gyeongbuk police announced on the 12th that, as the non-face-to-face society has prolonged and phishing damages have increased this year, and with the victim age group expanding to those in their 20s and 30s who are familiar with the online environment, they have been operating the 'Phishing Simulation Experience Center' since the 8th, which can be easily experienced on mobile phones or PC environments.
Anyone can enter by searching for 'Phishing Simulation Experience Center' on the Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency website or on portal sites.
The experience center is designed to allow users to experience three types of phishing: voice phishing, messenger phishing, and smishing.
After listening to the voice of a voice phishing criminal and experiencing phishing methods through a Q&A format, the system informs whether the user has been victimized.
A police official explained that this experience process is designed to naturally help users learn prevention methods.
In the case of smishing, an OX quiz format is used to help users distinguish phishing messages.
Additionally, to encourage many citizens to participate in the 'Phishing Simulation Experience,' an event is being held from October 8 to October 21, 'Police Day,' where 200 people who complete the experience or share certification on SNS will be selected to receive mobile coffee coupons.
The Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency has designated October as a focused phishing prevention publicity period, conducting educational and promotional activities both online and offline through local government websites, social networking services (SNS), regional internet cafes, financial institutions, convenience stores, and community sports facilities.
