Hamyang Jeil High School's Park Yeon-ju Wins Gold in 400m Hurdles at National Sports Festival
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Park Yeon-ju, an athletics hero from Hamyang, Gyeongnam, reaffirmed her status as the nation's top female 400m hurdles athlete by winning a gold medal at the National Sports Festival.
On the 11th, Park Yeon-ju (Hamyang Jeil High School, 3rd year), who competed in the under-19 women's 400m hurdles at the 102nd National Sports Festival held at Gumi Citizen Stadium, took first place with a time of 1 minute 03.15 seconds.
Park, who comfortably advanced to the finals by finishing first in the morning's preliminary heat 1, also dramatically secured first place in the final held in the afternoon. She has maintained her top position in the women's 400m hurdles, having won gold medals at the KBS Cup National Athletics Competition in June and the National Spring Athletics Competition last year.
County Governor Seo Chun-soo said, "Despite the difficulties caused by COVID-19, we are very proud of Park Yeon-ju, who gives hope to the residents," and added, "We hope she continues to achieve great results and elevate the prestige of Hamyang County."
Song Kyung-yeol, Chairman of the County Sports Council, also expressed, "We congratulate and thank Park Yeon-ju for maintaining her position as the nation's best despite challenging conditions," and said, "The County Sports Council will do its best to promote the development of sports in the county."
