Kim Eo-jun Questions Lee Jae-myung's 'Third Defeat': "Cannot Be Missed in Polls"
"I do not agree with the interpretation of 'separating public opinion and party sentiment'"
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyun-joo] Broadcaster Kim Eo-jun expressed doubts about the results of the 3rd National Electorate voting for the Democratic Party's presidential candidate selection, saying, "Such a rapid change in public opinion cannot be missed by polls."
Earlier on the 10th, in the Democratic Party's presidential primary results, Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung recorded a cumulative vote share of 50.29%, becoming the Democratic Party's final presidential candidate. However, in the 3rd National and General Party Member Electorate voting results announced the same day, Lee received 28.3% of the votes, significantly trailing former leader Lee Nak-yeon, who had 62.37%.
Regarding this, Kim said on the 12th on his TBS radio show "Kim Eo-jun's News Factory," "It's not about Daejang-dong, and I don't agree with the interpretation that public sentiment and party sentiment are separated," adding, "Out of curiosity, I input the numbers into Excel to create graphs and am also looking into past cases."
Kim said, "(The change in approval ratings) is not 5-10%. In some polls last week, Lee's support within the Democratic Party exceeded 60%, but conversely, it came out in the 20% range. That's a 40% swing," adding, "Such a rapid change cannot be missed by polls. Polling is scientific."
He raised questions about the electorate recruitment process. Kim said, "If (the change in public opinion) was not captured in the polls, it means that a population that deviates from statistical graphs was created from the start. This is a scientific inference."

He continued, "The 3rd National Electorate was recruited over two weeks starting from the 1st of last month. Was there any event that could have created a population with a strong bias at that time? There was no Daejang-dong (scandal) then. If there had been a variable, the poll that week should have shown 60% support for former leader Lee," adding, "Only in the 3rd round was a National Electorate formed that deviated from the Democratic Party's statistical population distribution. That is the logical conclusion."
