Amazon "Each Team Decides Their Own Commute Frequency"
[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] Amazon, the world's largest e-commerce company, has decided to allow employees to determine their own number of office visits starting next year when office attendance resumes.
On the 11th (local time), according to US economic media CNBC and others, Andy Jassy, Amazon's CEO, announced in an internal notice that "each team leader (director) will be given the discretion to decide the number of days to come to the office."
Amazon has 1.3 million employees worldwide. Jassy said, "I realized that a uniform work policy is not suitable for a company of this size," adding, "Most employees will continue working from home, but some teams will alternate between remote work and office attendance, while others will mainly work in the office to serve customers."
Originally, Amazon planned to start office attendance from January 3 next year, requiring employees to come to the office at least three days a week. Jassy said, "We will not regulate the number of office visits," emphasizing, "It will be a decision made within each team."

Additionally, Amazon decided to allow employees to work remotely from anywhere within the country of their employment for up to four weeks per year. Jassy stated, "I expect employees to work closely with their team members so that they can attend meetings even with at least one day's notice."
