Autumn 'Rabies Vaccination for Pets... Seoul City and Districts Provide Free Support for 40,000 Animals'
Visit Designated Animal Hospitals by District with Pets from the 15th to 29th... Guardians Pay Only 5,000 KRW for Vaccination Fees
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 12th that it will conduct "Rabies Vaccination in Autumn" for companion animals, dogs and cats, from the 15th to the 29th. Pet owners can visit designated animal hospitals near their residence and receive the vaccination by paying only a 5,000 KRW service fee.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government and district offices plan to provide 40,000 doses of rabies vaccine free of charge for this vaccination campaign. For dogs, priority vaccination support is given only if the animal is registered. If the dog is not yet registered, owners should first register the animal and then receive the rabies vaccination.
Seoul also supports "implantable animal registration" to make it easy and safe for unregistered dogs to be registered. Citizens who wish to register their animals can visit participating animal hospitals with their ID and their dog, and pay 10,000 KRW to receive implantable animal registration.
Rabies is a zoonotic disease that can infect both humans and animals and has a high fatality rate, but it can be prevented through vaccination, making regular vaccination extremely important. If companion animals have not yet received rabies vaccination, they must be vaccinated during this vaccination period.
