Gangbuk-gu Operates Dedicated Team for COVID-19 Home Treatment
Support for Self-Treatment Patients' Health, Isolation Management, and Telemedicine... Partnership Agreement with Nearby Hospitals Established for Twice-Daily Symptom Checks, Patient Transfer, and Bed Allocation Assistance
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Gyeom-su) announced that it will fully operate a dedicated team for managing COVID-19 home treatment.
Recently, asymptomatic and mild cases have accounted for the majority of confirmed COVID-19 patients, causing the utilization rate of the Gangbuk Living Treatment Center to exceed 65%. Especially since the Chuseok holiday, the number of confirmed cases has sharply increased, resulting in delays in bed allocation. While the number of confirmed cases is rising, the vaccination rate has increased, leading to a decreasing trend in severe cases and fatality rates.
Accordingly, Gangbuk-gu formed a dedicated team on the 7th to quickly respond to the changing quarantine situation and to prepare in advance for the phased recovery of daily life (With Corona). Eleven regular staff members were reassigned to create a health management team and an isolation response team.
The district also signed a COVID-19 business agreement with one secondary medical institution nearby. The cooperating hospital will check the health status of home treatment patients twice a day. They will support medical consultations and non-face-to-face treatment, and in case of emergencies, will arrange patient transfer and bed allocation.
Home treatment targets are mild and asymptomatic confirmed patients without hospitalization factors such as difficulty breathing or fever above 38℃. Consent from the patient is mandatory. Those living in vulnerable residential environments such as goshiwon or who have difficulty communicating are excluded.
Home treatment patients will be provided with a health management treatment box and daily necessities. The treatment box contains an oxygen saturation meter, thermometer, antipyretics, disinfectants, and more. If symptoms worsen, patients will be admitted to medical institutions or living treatment centers. Asymptomatic patients will be released from isolation 10 days after the confirmation date.
