Jeonju Bibimbap Festival 'World Bibim Week' Opens on the 9th

[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] The ‘Jeonju Bibimbap Festival,’ a representative gourmet festival of Jeonju, will be held as a new taste festival in the form of a 4-week ‘Week Festival.’

The Jeonju City announced on the 7th that the ‘2021 Jeonju Bibimbap Festival’ will be held from the 9th to the 31st for 4 weeks every Saturday and Sunday around Jeonju Hanok Village Hyanggyo area with a small-scale reservation system and online format.

This year’s festival will be held for the first time under the general director Ryu Jae-hyun with the subtitle ‘World Bibim Week.’

Above all, the focus is placed not on the food called bibimbap, but on the meaning of ‘bibim’ which means harmony, shifting the focus to a food festival concentrating on ‘taste.’

The Bibimbap Festival will be themed differently each week for 4 weeks: △Bibim Week (Couple’s Day) △Vitamin Week (Wife’s Day) △Protein Week (Husband’s Day) △World Week (Family Day), and will be organized with Day programs, special and regular programs, and special exhibitions.

During the first week Bibim Week, operated as Couple’s Day, programs such as ‘Insaeng Matchan’ invite couples to life-view restaurants to enjoy a chef’s course meal.

In the second week Vitamin Week, designated as Wife’s Day, healthy foods that relieve wives’ stress and can be enjoyed without diet worries are mainly introduced.

Also, in the third week Protein Week, operated as Husband’s Day, ‘Gogi Matchan’ is prepared, where juicy meat’s rich taste can be selected according to one’s preference.

The last fourth week will be held as World Week, where tastes and cultures of the East and West can be experienced. Programs and campaigns such as ‘Gourmet Halloween’ and ‘Dining with Parents’ will be held during World Week.

In addition, this year’s Bibimbap Festival will also feature regular programs such as △Taste Concert & Experience with Jeonju Food Masters △‘Matcon,’ enjoying performances while tasting food △‘Gourmet Cinema,’ a silent wireless movie theater with unique foods △‘Hanok Picnic,’ enjoying food in a quiet Hanok space △special exhibitions utilizing vacant stores on Hyanggyo Street.
