Jaehoon Jeong, President of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, "Renewables and Nuclear Must Coexist for Carbon Neutrality"
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] Jeong Jae-hoon, President of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, said on the 7th, "Renewable energy and nuclear power must necessarily coexist and be pursued together for smooth carbon neutrality."
President Jeong stated this opinion during the National Assembly Science, Technology, Information and Broadcasting and Communications Committee's audit, and recently submitted it to the Carbon Neutrality Committee.
He emphasized, "Based on scientific and technological information, nuclear power is safe," and proposed, "Even if it is difficult to build new nuclear power plants according to the Carbon Neutrality Committee, we should develop small and medium-sized reactors such as Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) well, and take the most rational and realistic path to carbon neutrality through those means."
