Gyeonggi Fire Academy, Nationwide First Dual Cohort 'Cross Training'
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi-do Fire Academy will conduct cross-simultaneous training for two cohorts for the first time nationwide to enable newly hired firefighters this year to be deployed to the field more quickly.
Gyeonggi Fire Academy announced on the 7th that it will divide the training for two cohorts, 400 trainees of the 74th cohort and 394 trainees of the 75th cohort, totaling 794 trainees scheduled for new appointments this year, from the existing 15-week in-person training per cohort into 10 weeks of in-person training and 5 weeks of remote (non-face-to-face) training, conducting cross training accordingly.
The Gyeonggi Technical School will first start remote training for the 75th cohort on the 25th of this month, which is the 6th week of in-person training for the 74th cohort who entered on the 23rd of last month, and while the 74th cohort undergoes 5 weeks of remote training after completing in-person training, the 75th cohort will receive in-person training.
This measure aims to minimize the dormitory stay period and reduce gaps in the training period to deploy newly appointed firefighters to the field more quickly.
In particular, for this training, Gyeonggi Education School extended the on-site training for fire, emergency medical services, and rescue from the previous 9 weeks to 12 weeks, an increase of 3 weeks. During this period, trainees will receive on-site training in various fields immediately applicable to actual situations, such as equipment operation, high-rise fire suppression, and emergency treatment, through a training curriculum subdivided into three stages: basic, advanced, and applied.
