Changwon City Implements 'Vehicle Loss Recognition' System to Aid Long-Term Delinquent Vehicle Owners
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Changwon City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 6th that it will support taxpayers who suffer damages due to automobile tax and fines continuously being imposed because their vehicles are registered in the vehicle registry despite not owning any cars.
The target is vehicle owners whose vehicles are old and have no resale value but whose whereabouts cannot be found, resulting in accumulated delinquent payments. Taxpayers can apply directly at the vehicle registration office in each region.
Vehicles that are effectively recognized as destroyed must meet the age criteria according to the vehicle type (passenger cars over 11 years, vans and trucks over 10 years, special vehicles over 12 years) and have no records of fines, insurance subscription, or vehicle inspections in the past three years.
Once a vehicle is recognized as destroyed, obligations such as automobile tax, insurance subscription, and vehicle inspection are exempted from the time of recognition, and benefits such as reductions in local health insurance premiums are provided.
