Ilhwa Participates as Sponsor in the 29th Kkumssi Music Concert
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Food and beverage health company Ilhwa announced on the 6th that it participated as a sponsor in the concert “The 29th Kkumssi Music Concert,” created together by talented disabled musicians and non-disabled performers.
Ilhwa participated again this year as a joint sponsor along with the Korea Volunteer Association. The 29th Kkumssi Music Concert, jointly hosted by Aewon and the United Nations Habitat Korea Committee and organized by Intermusic, is a joint performance stage featuring disabled and non-disabled youth as the main performers. It is a cultural and artistic program designed to help them grow into professional musicians and become independent members of society.
The event was held at the Sejong Center M Theater and was broadcast live online via the YouTube channel “Volunteer Aewon” to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Since 2005, the Kkumssi Music Concert has invited over 17,000 audience members, and since 2015, it has played a leading role in the growth of the disabled music community through collaborations with orchestras composed of disabled musicians and non-disabled majors.
This year’s theme, “Voice,” aimed to reflect on the current state of disabled performers through the voices of disabled people, who are an integral part of our society, and those around them, while continuously encouraging interest and courage to help them become independent musicians.
Participating as Kkumssi performers in this concert were pianist Kim Minsu (intellectual disability), baritone Hong Taejung (intellectual disability), and cellist Lee Gwanyong (multicultural family). The Goyang Philharmonic Orchestra (conductor Ahn Hyunseong), established in 1999 and known for its history and solid skills, also participated, delivering a polished performance and moving resonance.
Ilhwa Chairman Kim Sanggyun said, “The Kkumssi Music Concert has been a platform and foundation for growth over the past 16 years for young people who love music and have talent but have had difficulty realizing their dreams due to disabilities and economic hardships. Ilhwa will continue to provide patronage support to improve awareness of disabilities and strengthen the artistic capabilities of disabled people.”
