According to Bloomberg on the 5th (local time), Apple displayed a 2-minute and 40-second video titled "In Memory of Steve" on its homepage. The video consisted of photos of Jobs and his statements during his lifetime.
In the memo sent to internal employees, CEO Cook said, "Today marks the 10th anniversary of Steve's passing, a moment to reflect on the extraordinary legacy he left behind," adding, "Steve believed that passionate people could change the world for the better."
He added, "That was the philosophy that inspired Steve to create Apple, and it lives on within us today."
He continued, "Steve challenged us to see the world not as it is, but as it could be," and "He helped many people, including myself, to see the potential within themselves."
CEO Cook also wrote, "There is not a day that goes by without thinking of Steve."
He said, "Like every other year, this year I think about the profound impact our products have on the world," adding, "We are truly fortunate to spend our days connecting people, inspiring different ways of thinking, and creating innovative tools." He emphasized, "This is one of the many gifts Steve gave to all of us."
CEO Cook said, "I hope you can see how Steve's spirit lives on in all your amazing work," and "But above all, he wants to see what you do next."
He recalled the late Steve Jobs by saying, "Steve once said that his proudest achievements were those yet to come," and "He tirelessly worked to realize his vision by imagining a future no one else could see."
He concluded the memo by saying, "Steve was a unique individual, but he taught all of us how to soar," and "I will always miss and cherish him."
On the same day, CEO Cook also commemorated the 10th anniversary of Steve Jobs' death on his Twitter with the phrase, "Passionate people can change the world for the better."
Meanwhile, Steve Jobs stepped down as CEO in October 2011 and passed away at the age of 56 just two months after appointing Cook as his successor.
