Young Artist Group 'NA' Presents Original Play 'In Place'
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] To overcome the stagnation in the cultural and artistic community caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the young artist group ‘NA’ team is presenting the original play 'Jelajieseo Naneun' (Flying in Place).
The play 'Jelajieseo Naneun' tells the story of a person exhausted from moving forward who comes to realize the power of staying still. It contains the stories of the protagonist’s internal organs. The actors unfold a unique story that is both ordinary and fantastical, static yet dynamic, showing duality.
Even when feeling lethargic and depressed, the fact that the organs inside the body are doing their best to move in place every moment brings comfort. Instead of the protagonist directly overcoming hardships and adversity, the story quietly focuses on the organs that keep moving.
The protagonist A, who is lost in lethargy and unable to find direction, represents us living in modern times. In reality, it is difficult for a person to realize or show others the vitality of their organs. The play conveys the vividness of the organs, which contrasts with the protagonist’s lethargy, through music, objects, and the actors’ bodies. It visualizes the ‘will to live’ happening inside each body so that the audience can discover it themselves. This is something only theater can achieve.
The NA team, which staged the play 'Jelajieseo Naneun,' is a group of young artists composed of rookie actors. As their team name NA means ‘Not Answer,’ implying there is no correct answer, they pursue their own unique colors rather than fixed, predetermined answers. They say, "There is no correct answer in art and acting," and "Therefore, we only strive for continuous improvement in better directions."
The NA team, consisting of freelance actors, supports each other by covering each other’s weaknesses through acting training. They also engage in offline activities such as busking, as well as online activities through social media platforms like YouTube and Instagram.
Actor Park Sangjun, who has appeared in plays such as 'Les Mis?rables,' 'Rent a Tenor,' and the musical 'Song of the Sun,' is also one of the founding members of the NA team. He said, "I want to be a good person and actor who gives a positive influence through acting."

NA’s first performance, 'Jelajieseo Naneun,' was entirely prepared by NA artists themselves, from scriptwriting to overall production. This young artist group plans to continue their efforts as an attempt to sprout hope in the cultural and artistic community, which has been shrinking due to the impact of COVID-19.
