Jeonnam Province and TRN Co., Ltd. Join Hands to Expand Market Channels for Local Agricultural and Marine Specialties
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province and domestic T-commerce leading company TRN Co., Ltd. have joined hands to expand non-face-to-face sales channels for agricultural and marine specialty products from farms and fisheries struggling with sales due to COVID-19.
The province announced on the 5th that it signed a business agreement with TRN Co., Ltd. at the provincial office, the first local government to do so, to expand sales channels and boost sales of agricultural and marine specialty products through T-commerce in response to the trend of non-face-to-face consumption.
The signing ceremony was attended by Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeonnam Province, and Min Taek-geun, CEO of TRN Co., Ltd., among others.
According to the agreement, they agreed to cooperate in expanding distribution and sales networks and revitalizing sales of excellent agricultural and marine specialty products from Jeonnam.
As a result, Jeonnam’s agricultural and marine specialty products will be sold nationwide through T-commerce and the online mall “Shopping NT” operated by TRN Co., Ltd., contributing to income increase for local farms and fisheries.
TRN Co., Ltd. is a leading T-commerce company operating the “Shopping NT” channel broadcast. It was recognized for its contribution to the sales and promotion of products from small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners who have difficulty securing sales channels, receiving the Minister of SMEs and Startups Award.
It has also continued warm sharing activities for the local community, such as psychological support counseling and treatment cost assistance for children with disabilities, and support for operating elementary school after-school care classrooms.
T-commerce is a combination of television and commerce. Unlike TV home shopping, where products can only be purchased during live broadcast times, T-commerce allows viewers to use a dedicated remote control to directly find products of interest, check product information, and purchase immediately while watching digital TV without time restrictions.
CEO Min Taek-geun said, “We hope that the agreement with Jeonnam Province will lead to increased customer satisfaction, improved income for producers, and revitalization of the local economy,” adding, “We will actively support the expansion of sales channels for Jeonnam’s agricultural and marine specialty products in the future.”
Governor Kim Young-rok stated, “The expansion of non-face-to-face sales channels for Jeonnam’s agricultural and marine specialty products is welcome news like rain after a drought for farmers and fishermen who have faced great difficulties in securing sales channels due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic,” and added, “We will promote the excellence of Jeonnam’s agricultural and marine specialty products to help actual sales for farms and fisheries and greatly contribute to income increase.”
Meanwhile, the province is supporting 40 agricultural and food companies this year with 10 million won per company to promote sales of agricultural and marine specialty products through TV home shopping. Last year, 38 companies achieved sales of 6.7 billion won through TV home shopping sales, showing that this project has greatly helped increase income for farms and fisheries and enhance the brand awareness of Jeonnam’s agricultural and marine specialty products.
