[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Sumi] The Netflix original series 'Squid Game' is also gaining high popularity in Paris, France.
On the 2nd (local time), a Squid Game experience center opened on Alexandria 12th Street in Paris. Despite being a temporary operation, the experience center attracted a large crowd.
The line that started across the experience center bent twice through the alley and stretched about 250 meters before reaching the end. If you were at the very end, you would have to wait at least several hours.
Heavy rain poured in Paris from the previous day until the morning of the day, but people gathered to experience Squid Game waited for hours regardless.
The first floor of the experience center, where groups of at least 6 and up to 12 people wearing masks can enter, was decorated with various props reminiscent of Squid Game, such as piggy banks and glass marbles. Also, a large Squid Game pattern was drawn on the floor of the cafe space where visitors could rest.
Visitors were also given dalgona candy stamped with shapes like ddakji (folded paper tiles), circles, and triangles. If they succeeded in carving out the shape within the time limit, they received a one-month free Netflix subscription as a gift.
The time allowed inside the experience center was less than 10 minutes, but those who came out did not hesitate to praise it as "very fun."
Vlogs of the Squid Game experience center were also uploaded on YouTube. The scenes in the videos, such as a square-shaped staff member accompanied by security guards and locals dancing to a remix version of the "Mugunghwa Flower Has Bloomed" song, made it possible to feel the drama's popularity.
An official standing guard in front of the experience center said that some people parked their cars in front of the cafe from the previous night, slept there, and lined up early in the morning.
Meanwhile, according to the broadcasting industry on the 4th, the main cast members of the globally popular Netflix Squid Game will appear on the popular American NBC talk show 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.'
