Apple Cancels Plans to Release 'iPad Air' with OLED Next Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] There are rumors that Apple has canceled the release plan of the OLED-equipped 'iPad Air' scheduled for next year.
On the 2nd (local time), IT specialized media MacRumors and others reported, citing a report by Ming-Chi Kuo, a researcher at Taiwan's TF International Securities, that Apple has canceled the plan to release an OLED-equipped iPad Air and will continue to use LCD panels.
Earlier, researcher Ming-Chi Kuo had predicted in March that Apple would release an iPad Air with an OLED display next year. However, he revised his forecast, stating that Apple canceled the plan due to cost and performance not meeting expectations. If the cancellation is true, Apple will continue to use TFT-LCD technology next year as well.

This decision is analyzed to be not only for technical reasons but also to avoid conflict with the '11-inch iPad Pro' equipped with a mini-LED display from a marketing perspective. Researcher Ming-Chi Kuo pointed out, "The 11-inch iPad Pro will be the core product of Apple's iPad lineup next year," and added, "The cancellation of the OLED iPad Air release is also related to concerns that it could negatively affect sales of the 11-inch iPad Pro equipped with mini-LED." Currently, the latest mini-LED technology is included only in the '12.9-inch iPad Pro' product.
