According to the COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team (Promotion Team) on the 3rd, the number of new first-dose vaccinations the previous day was 124,504, and the number of completed vaccinations was 406,444.
The total number of new first and second doses administered in one day was 530,948. This is significantly lower compared to about 1.09 million the previous day. This decrease is due to some entrusted medical institutions and vaccination centers being closed or operating on reduced hours over the weekend.
By vaccine type, the number of new first-dose vaccinations was 75,764 for Moderna, 46,746 for Pfizer, 1,940 for Janssen, and 54 for AstraZeneca (AZ).
As of midnight on the day, the cumulative number of first-dose vaccinations in the country was 39,710,470, which corresponds to 77.3% of the total population (51,349,116 as of December last year). The first-dose vaccination rate among the population aged 18 and over is 89.9%.
Looking at the cumulative first-dose vaccinations by vaccine, Pfizer accounts for 21,194,290, AstraZeneca 11,092,321, and Moderna 5,976,387. The cumulative number of Janssen vaccine recipients is 1,447,472. People who received the Janssen vaccine, which requires only one dose, are included in both first and second dose counts.
Among those newly completed with the second dose the previous day, totaling 406,444, the breakdown by vaccine is 287,519 for Pfizer, 114,559 for Moderna, and 2,426 for AstraZeneca.
The number of people who completed AstraZeneca vaccinations was counted as 6,165, but among them, 3,739 received AstraZeneca for the first dose and Pfizer for the second dose as a mixed vaccination.
Thus, the total number of people who have completed both doses increased to 26,982,724. This corresponds to 52.5% of the population and 61.1% based on the population aged 18 and over.
The cumulative number of completed vaccinations by vaccine is 10,436,846 for AstraZeneca (including 1,636,780 mixed vaccinations), 12,797,273 for Pfizer, and 2,301,133 for Moderna, with the remainder being Janssen recipients.
Currently, four types of vaccines?AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Janssen, and Moderna?are used for vaccinations in the country. AstraZeneca, Pfizer, and Moderna vaccines require two doses, while Janssen requires only one dose.
The interval between the first and second doses varies slightly depending on the vaccine type. AstraZeneca recommends a 4 to 12-week interval, Pfizer a 3-week interval, and Moderna a 4-week interval between doses.

The Promotion Team, reflecting uncertainties in vaccine supply, temporarily extended the interval for mRNA vaccines (Moderna and Pfizer) to up to 6 weeks, but plans to reduce the interval back to 4 to 5 weeks starting from the 11th of this month.
