Samsung Heavy Industries Wins Order for Four LNG Carriers Worth 959.3 Billion KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Samsung Heavy Industries announced on the 30th that it has secured orders for four LNG carriers worth a total of 959.3 billion KRW from shipping companies in the Asia region. These vessels are scheduled to be delivered sequentially by February 2024.
Including this contract, Samsung Heavy Industries has secured a total of 64 vessels worth 8.6 billion USD this year, achieving 95% of its annual target of 9.1 billion USD.
Considering the size of the icebreaking shuttle tanker currently under exclusive negotiation, Samsung Heavy Industries expects to exceed the raised order target for this year (from 7.8 billion USD to 9.1 billion USD).
A Samsung Heavy Industries official stated, "Securing over 9 billion USD in orders in a year is the largest scale since the record of 13.3 billion USD in 2013," adding, "We will focus on improving the quality of orders through selective ordering based on a solid order backlog with an emphasis on profitability."
