Honor, Independent from Huawei, Ranks 3rd in China's Smartphone Market
[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] Honor, a mid-range smartphone manufacturer spun off from Huawei, ranked third in market share in China last month.
On the 29th (local time), CNBC cited market research firm Counterpoint Research, reporting that "Honor recorded a 15% market share in China last month."
Starting as an internal brand of Huawei, Honor was sold last November to Zhixin New Information Technology, established under the leadership of the Shenzhen city government, after the U.S. government's sanctions caused disruptions in procuring key semiconductors and other components.
Beginning as a mid-range brand, Honor unveiled its high-performance 3 series this month and is reportedly preparing a premium Magic series.
