"Efforts to Reduce Treatment Gaps for Tuberculosis Patients in Pakistan"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] The 16th Gochon Award was presented to the Pakistani social service non-profit organization, the Dopasi Foundation.
Jongkundang Gochon Foundation announced on the 29th that it held the 16th Gochon Award ceremony on the 28th. The award ceremony this year was held online to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and the Dopasi Foundation received the Gochon Award.
The Dopasi Foundation played a leading role in forming Pakistan's first negotiation group and special organization related to tuberculosis (TB) eradication. It was also recognized for its efforts to support the treatment of miners vulnerable to TB and to reduce treatment gaps for TB patients in Pakistan during the COVID-19 pandemic by using portable X-rays equipped with artificial intelligence for early TB diagnosis.
Chairman Kim Doo-hyun said, “The COVID-19 virus caused many difficulties in providing medical services to TB patients,” adding, “Despite the challenging circumstances, this year’s Gochon Award was given to the organization that devoted itself to TB patients through various methods.”
