In TV Debate, Lee Nak-yeon and Park Yong-jin Unite on 'Daejang-dong Scandal'... "Rotten Stench Pervades" "Crime Scene, Feels Like a Labyrinth"
Park Yong-jin "Political lobbying comparable to the second Suseo scandal... Illegal corruption must be completely eradicated regardless of party"
Lee Nak-yeon "I fully agree with Representative Park... A scene where crimes occur by covering for each other"
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] On the 28th, former leader and presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, Lee Nak-yeon, and lawmaker Park Yong-jin jointly criticized Gyeonggi Governor Lee Jae-myung regarding the allegations of preferential treatment in the Daejang-dong development project in Seongnam City.
At the Democratic Party presidential candidate debate hosted by SBS that evening, Park raised the intensity of his remarks, saying, "The shock from the Daejang-dong incident is no small matter," and added, "A rotten stench is overwhelming."
After Lee Nak-yeon's policy presentation, Park Yong-jin took the floor and asked Lee how he viewed the Daejang-dong incident. Park said, "I thought it was a second LH scandal, but it goes further, resembling a second Suseo scandal with political and business lobbying and a chaotic National Assembly."
He continued, "It has been 30 years since the 1991 Suseo scandal, and it is heartbreaking to see South Korea in this state," and raised his voice, saying, "Regardless of party or business circles, all illegal-related corruption must be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted."
In response, Lee Nak-yeon nodded repeatedly and replied, "I completely agree with lawmaker Park."
