The two parties previously co-produced the films Mother and Parasite. The latter swept four categories at last year's Academy Awards in the United States, including Best Picture. A representative from Barunson E&A stated, "We are preparing overseas co-productions and drama projects by adding specialized personnel to the credits and know-how gained from Parasite," and added, "We aim to produce high-quality works that captivate audiences both domestically and internationally."
The lineup includes a new film by director Kim Seong-hoon, who directed the drama Kingdom, as well as a global over-the-top (OTT) drama. They will also produce upcoming works by director Lee Yong-ju of Seobok and Architecture 101, and director Eom Tae-hwa of Vanishing Time: A Boy Who Returned and Concrete Utopia. Contracts have also been signed with screenwriters Baek Mi-kyung, known for the dramas Strong Woman Do Bong-soon and Woman of Dignity, and Jo Hyun-kyung, known for When I Was the Most Beautiful, expanding their creative scope. A Barunson E&A representative said, "We are working on dramas with fresh themes such as Pieolla, which centers on a makeup artist from the Joseon Dynasty, and The Jeong Won-sik Murder Case, about a wife seeking revenge on her unfaithful husband," adding, "The new work by writer Yoo Seung-hee, who wrote the screenplay for the film I Can Speak, is also highly anticipated."
