Kakao Focuses on Hiring Retirees from Power Agencies in the Past Six Months
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] It has been revealed that Kakao recently recruited a large number of retirees from so-called 'powerful' authorities such as the prosecution and police.
According to the 'Status of Public Officials Employed by Kakao and Its Affiliates in the Last Five Years' submitted by the Ministry of Personnel Management to Kim Sang-hoon, a member of the People Power Party, Kakao hired a retired Grade 6 officer from the National Police Agency in December last year, and in July, consecutively employed former prosecutors.
Kakao Pay, an affiliate, recruited a Grade 3 employee from the Financial Supervisory Service last month, and Kakao Space hired a Grade 4 official from the Blue House Security Office.
Among those employed by Kakao, two individuals were hired arbitrarily without going through the Public Officials Ethics Committee and even received a request for a fine.
Rep. Kim pointed out, "There were no cases of reemployment of former public officials in the past five years, but from December last year to recently, it is very unusual that they specifically hired personnel from the police, prosecution, Financial Supervisory Service, and the Blue House."

He added, "As Kakao's influence expands across the entire spectrum of public life, such as the recent KakaoT monopoly issue, there is definitely a reason behind the continuous recruitment of former officials. It is a time when caution is necessary."
