The video conference, attended by the mayor, deputy mayor, heads of each department and office, as well as representatives from public corporations, cultural foundations, and affiliated organizations of Mirae Job Corporation, focused on the high possibility that the average number of confirmed COVID-19 cases and self-quarantined individuals in Seongdong-gu would more than double after Chuseok. The meeting was held to pre-inspect quarantine measures of the district and its affiliated organizations and to build a more thorough quarantine network to respond swiftly to any situation for the safety of residents.
Thorough preparation and countermeasures were set as key issues regarding major actions such as patient transport, self-quarantine management, and epidemiological investigation operations.
First, epidemiological investigation and dedicated monitoring personnel for self-quarantined individuals will be operated efficiently to respond to emergency situations. Measures to reduce psychological and physical anxiety caused by increased waiting times for patient transport due to the surge in confirmed cases were also considered, and the extension of operating hours for temporary screening clinics to facilitate smooth COVID-19 testing was actively reviewed.
Plans were made to prepare for more than 2,000 self-quarantined individuals and to actively secure additional beds through prior consultations with autonomous districts that have spare beds in residential treatment centers.
In addition, all departments and affiliated organizations of the district agreed to maintain heightened vigilance and strengthen the quarantine management system by actively conducting quarantine activities for various facilities such as sports centers they operate cooperatively, and by regularly inspecting on-site situations until the spread of COVID-19 ceases.
Seongdong-gu has led pioneering policies such as the nationwide first introduction of a mobile electronic log and a real-time waiting guidance system for COVID-19 testing, as well as support for essential workers.
Since the driving force behind these initiatives is to protect the safety of residents from COVID-19, the district plans to continue actively supporting residents' safety and daily life recovery with swift actions.
