Chuseok Hotel Occupancy Rate Increases by 40.7%P Year-on-Year... Concentrated in Early Holiday Period
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jun-hyung] Hotel occupancy rates during this Chuseok holiday increased by 40.7 percentage points compared to last year's holiday.
Leisure platform Yanolja announced on the 26th that an analysis of domestic leisure data from the 18th to the 22nd of this month showed these results. During the same period, pension usage rates rose by 37.9 percentage points.
Daily accommodation usage rates were highest on the 18th, the start of the holiday, at 25.6%. The 19th followed at 24%. While last year's Chuseok saw travelers concentrated in the latter half of the holiday, this year, half of the total usage was concentrated in the early part of the holiday, according to the company.
By region, Gyeonggi-do had the highest accommodation usage rate at 18.8%, followed by Seoul (17.1%), Busan (9%), Gangwon-do (8.1%), and Incheon (6.5%). According to Yanolja, the top five regions have maintained the same ranking during each holiday since the spread of COVID-19.
Looking at usage rates by leisure type, theme parks ranked first at 39.9%, followed by 'Kids Nolgeori' at 32.8%. This indicates a high preference for leisure activities that families can enjoy together during the Chuseok holiday period.
