According to industry sources on the 24th, The Born Korea opened its first directly managed store of 'Nakwon Gopchang' near Sadang Station in Seocho-gu, Seoul, earlier this month. This store operates as a pilot location, selling Korean beef gopchang, daechang grilled dishes, and hot pot. The assorted Korean beef gopchang grilled platter at 'Nakwon Gopchang' is priced in the mid-20,000 KRW range for 250g, and the hot pot is priced in the high 30,000 KRW range.
A representative from The Born Korea stated, "We plan to improve the menu and observe consumer reactions during the test period before deciding whether to expand into a franchise business."
Additionally, CEO Baek recently announced preparations for traditional liquor. He opened a brewery called 'Baeksuldoga' in the building where 'Nakwon Gopchang' is being piloted and has started producing Makgeolli himself. The 'Baekgeolli,' a portmanteau of 'Baek Jong-won + Makgeolli,' has an alcohol content of 14% and comes in a 360ml bottle.
It is known that CEO Baek has completed the trademark registration for 'Baekgeolli.' According to the Korean Intellectual Property Office, P&Holdings (formerly Baek Jong-won Co., Ltd.) filed a trademark application in July for products including distilled liquor and Makgeolli.
A representative from 'Baeksuldoga' explained, "Production began in early September. However, currently, only small quantities are provided in tasting form to some celebrities. The official sales schedule is being planned while monitoring responses."
