Due to the Chuseok holiday, the daily number of confirmed cases decreased by about 40 compared to the previous week (189.4 cases).
According to the Ministry of Education on the 23rd, the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases among kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high school students from the 16th to the 22nd was 1,046.
With the overlap of the Chuseok holiday and the weekend, the number of confirmed cases sharply declined compared to the previous week. There was a decrease of 280 cases compared to the previous week, and the daily average dropped by 40. Since March, the cumulative number of confirmed cases is 18,289.
As of 10 a.m. on the day, 121 schools were conducting remote classes, with the distribution by region as follows: ▲Seoul 77 schools ▲Gyeonggi 13 schools ▲Chungnam 7 schools ▲Daejeon 7 schools.

As of 10 a.m. on the day, 91.0% (18,615 schools) of the total 24,446 schools nationwide held in-person classes, and 8.4% (1,710 schools) took discretionary holidays. Many schools implemented discretionary holidays due to the Chuseok holiday.
In the metropolitan area, 86.1% (6,667 schools) of 7,742 schools held in-person classes, and 5.7% (980 schools) took discretionary holidays. In non-metropolitan areas, 94.0% (11,948 schools) of 12,704 schools held in-person classes, and only 5.7% (730 schools) took discretionary holidays.
As of 4 p.m. on the 17th, out of 5.94 million students nationwide, 4.55 million (76.7%) attended in-person classes.
The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among school staff over the past week was 40, with a cumulative total of 1,704 cases.

The number of confirmed cases among university students over the past week was 428, and among university staff was 11. The daily average was 61.1 students and 1.6 staff members. The cumulative number of confirmed university student cases is 8,306, and university staff cases total 670.
