Global COVID-19 Virtual Summit... "Korea Is Always Ready to Cooperate with the International Community"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] On the 23rd, President Moon Jae-in stated at the global COVID-19 virtual summit, "South Korea will always cooperate with the international community. The Korean people will actively participate for the safe life of humanity," adding, "South Korea is one of the pillars of the global vaccine hub."
President Moon said, "We have pledged to contribute 200 million USD to COVAX, and based on the Korea-US vaccine partnership, we are contract-manufacturing four types of vaccines. We will contribute to overcoming COVID-19 through wider vaccine distribution and support."
President Moon expressed, "I pay tribute to President Biden's leadership in leading international solidarity and cooperation to overcome COVID-19."
President Moon emphasized the importance of international solidarity during the COVID-19 crisis and pledged that South Korea will play a role.
He said, "COVID-19 has pushed humanity into crisis, but humanity is more concerned than ever about each other's safety, showing solidarity and seeking warm and creative ways for better recovery and reconstruction. South Korea will always cooperate with the international community."
President Moon explained, "South Korea is taking the lead in inclusive health cooperation and actively participating in UN and WHO discussions to improve the international health security system. So far, we have shared quarantine supplies with 125 countries and are sharing our COVID-19 response experiences."
He added, "South Korea supports developing countries in various economic and social fields such as education and jobs. Through steady expansion of ODA, we will join inclusive recovery efforts and do our best to help developing countries comprehensively enhance their health capacities."
