During Chuseok, Convenience Stores Act as Pharmacies and Banks... "Expand OTC Drugs and Pre-Check ATMs"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Major convenience stores have secured stocks of essential medicines and inspected ATMs to compensate for pharmacies and banks that close during the Chuseok holiday period.
According to the industry on the 20th, GS25 has sufficiently stocked 14 types of essential safety medicines such as digestive aids and antipyretics, which see sales increase more than fivefold during the holiday period, and has completed ATM inspections in advance. Through this, they plan to prepare to flawlessly perform their social functions as a 24/7 emergency relief center in the local community and provide urgent financial services.
A GS Retail official said, "The number of 'Honchujok' (people spending Chuseok alone) who cannot visit their hometowns is increasing every year," adding, "We aim to fulfill our role as a neighborhood emergency relief center by stocking essential safety medicines."
Emart24 is conducting a safe driving campaign during the Chuseok holiday period in cooperation with the Korea Expressway Corporation. Emart24 is selling coffee and tea beverages, which are frequently purchased during driving, with traffic safety and drowsy driving prevention messages on their package designs. The targeted products are Minsaeng Coffee and Minsaeng Traditional Tea Beverage. The existing package design has been updated to include a drowsy driving rest area sign and a message encouraging sufficient rest to avoid drowsy driving. These campaign beverages will be sold at Emart24 stores nationwide and convenience stores within rest areas managed by the Korea Expressway Corporation.
