Park Beom-gye: "Simultaneous Investigation by the Corruption Investigation Office and Prosecutors into the 'Report Solicitation' Allegation... Not Inefficient"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daehyun] Amid ongoing investigations into the 'alleged report solicitation scandal' by multiple agencies, Park Beom-gye, Minister of Justice, stated, "It does not seem to be an inefficiency issue."
On the morning of the 17th, Minister Park, while arriving at the Ministry of Justice Government Gwacheon Complex, met with reporters and addressed concerns about 'inefficiency' caused by simultaneous investigations by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) and the prosecution. He said, "There is a cooperative atmosphere between the prosecution and the CIO," adding, "I expect both agencies to coordinate well and promptly clarify the facts."
On the same day, Minister Park also expressed empathy regarding concerns about human rights violations toward the subjects of the report solicitation investigation. He said, "I fully understand," and "I expect the investigative agencies to be considerate." However, he added, "Since it is still the early stage of the investigation, no specific human rights violations seem to have been detected yet."
