Statistics Korea and Gyunbalwi Sign MOU to Promote 'Data Utilization' Policy

View original image[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Son Seon-hee] The Statistics Korea and the National Balanced Development Committee (NBDC) have joined hands to promote data-driven policies for regional balanced development.
On the afternoon of the 16th, the two organizations signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at the Government Complex Seoul to strengthen the "Development and Utilization of Regional Statistics," the Statistics Korea announced.
Through this MOU, they plan to mutually cooperate on ▲ improving and expanding the use of balanced development indicators ▲ designing common items for regional community surveys and building data ▲ joint research for the development and utilization of regional statistics ▲ joint research for balanced development and improving the quality of life in regions.
Ryu Geun-gwan, Commissioner of Statistics Korea, said, "To improve the quality of life in regions, the production of detailed and reliable regional statistics that can support this must be prioritized, and these should be used as basic data for policies. We hope that producing detailed regional statistics in various fields will contribute to regional balanced development and the improvement of quality of life."
