Landlord Who Signed Office-tel Lease Contract Without Ownership Rights Under Police Investigation
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] The police have launched an investigation into a landlord who signed lease contracts for officetels without ownership rights.
On the 16th, the Seoul Gwanak Police Station announced that they are investigating a man in his 50s, Mr. A, on suspicion of fraud for signing lease contracts on officetels without ownership rights.
According to the police, Mr. A transferred the ownership of the officetel to a real estate trust company in order to secure a loan from a credit cooperative, but he continued to recruit tenants and sign lease contracts as if he still owned the officetel.
Some residents filed a fraud complaint against Mr. A with the police this month, and it is known that a resident couple had also filed a fraud complaint against Mr. A in November last year. The case filed last year was forwarded to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office in February this year.
