Support for Martial Arts, AI One Team-Startup Joint Business Development Project
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] The Korea International Trade Association (KITA) announced on the 16th that it held the 'AI One Team - Domestic Startup Open Innovation Proof of Concept (PoC) Demo Day' online.
AI One Team is an industry-academia-research consortium launched in February last year with the goal of enhancing the innovation competitiveness of the domestic artificial intelligence industry. Participants include KT, Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, LG Electronics, LG Uplus, Dongwon Group, Woori Bank, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), and Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI).
In April this year, KITA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with AI One Team to create an open AI innovation ecosystem, discovering business cooperation opportunities between AI One Team and excellent AI startups. Specifically, proposals from over 70 startups were reviewed across 12 tasks in four areas: ▲ AI financial solutions ▲ Industrial AI ▲ New Business Models (NEW BM) ▲ AI-based Interaction, followed by one-on-one meetups to identify collaborative startups.
At the demo day, five projects selected as PoC targets were introduced. First, the Institute of Artificial Intelligence Research is collaborating with Woori Bank, a member of AI One Team, to advance machine learning-based corporate credit screening support, and with KT to demonstrate a deep learning-based comprehensive asset management system enhancement model.
MOPIC is testing the effectiveness of an industrial accident prevention solution using 3D display stereoscopic images in collaboration with Avikus, Hyundai Heavy Industries Group’s autonomous ship navigation specialist, and KT. Mofl is partnering with Dongwon Group to test an AI-based time series analysis solution for predicting demand for food and beverage products, while 10pple is verifying an AI pet health maintenance service with KT.
Each project, scheduled to continue until the end of the year, will receive up to 30 million KRW in support from AI One Team and KITA’s PoC support partner organizations, including Seoul Business Agency, AI Yangjae Hub, and the Industry-Academia Cooperation Foundation.
Shin Chang-bong, CEO of MOPIC, said, "After submitting the proposal, we were able to suggest a project that precisely meets the needs of the companies through several meetings with Hyundai Heavy Industries Group and KT. Through this PoC, we plan to prove the industrial accident prevention effect of the light field display and aim for joint commercialization with Hyundai Heavy Industries and KT."
