Bodyfriend Sponsors WBA World Champion Boxer Choi Hyun-mi
Preparation for 9th Title Defense "Daily Massage with Bodyfriend"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Bodyfriend (CEO Park Sang-hyun) announced on the 16th that it will officially sponsor female boxing champion Choi Hyun-mi, who is preparing for her 9th world title defense. Choi Hyun-mi is the first Korean female boxer to conquer two weight classes in the WBA (World Boxing Association). She made a name for herself by winning the WBA women's featherweight title in 2008 and successfully defended the title seven times until 2013, after which she moved up to the super featherweight division. Since then, she became champion in the super featherweight division as well and has maintained the title for eight years.
Notably, she holds a combined record of 18 wins, 1 draw, and 0 losses across the two weight classes. She has maintained an undefeated record for 13 years since her professional debut while keeping her champion title. However, due to boxing being a less popular sport, she faced difficulties securing sponsorships, which made it challenging to proceed with title defenses. If mandatory defenses are not held, the champion title is automatically revoked.
In this situation, Bodyfriend stepped up to sponsor Choi. Choi also revealed that she uses Bodyfriend massage chairs daily to recover her condition. She said, "Getting massages every day with Bodyfriend feels like having an extra manager."
