Special Crackdown on Violations of Quarantine Rules by Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Ahead of Chuseok Holiday
203 Personnel Including 100 Police Officers Deployed Daily for 10 Days from 17th to 26th
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government's Hangang Project Headquarters announced on the 16th that it will conduct a special crackdown on violations of quarantine rules for 10 days from the 17th to the 26th, in cooperation with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, in preparation for the increase in visitors to Hangang Park during the Chuseok holiday period. Violations of quarantine rules such as wearing masks, social distancing, prohibition of private gatherings of five or more people, and drinking alcohol after 10 p.m. throughout Hangang Park will be subject to enforcement.
The personnel deployed will average 203 people per day (100 from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's riot squad and 103 from the Hangang Project Headquarters' special inspection team), and enforcement will be intensively carried out daily from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. the next day.
With the autumn peak season leading to a sharp increase in visitors to Hangang Park, it is expected that many visitors will come to Hangang Park during the Chuseok holiday period, and stricter enforcement of violations of the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act will be implemented during this period.
Meanwhile, since July 9, the Hangang Project Headquarters has been continuously educating and cracking down on violations of quarantine rules in Hangang Park in cooperation with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, and a total of 238 fines have been imposed so far.
